Apollo Victoria Theatre Celebrates 80 Years With Charity Gala Performance.

ON October 10th 2010 the APOLLO VICTORIA THEATRE will celebrate its 80th birthday with a special Gala Performance featuring the cast of WICKED and a host of Musical stars, including a very special reunion of performers from STARLIGHT EXPRESS.

Created by WICKED’s UK Associate Director, Petra Siniawski and UK Dance Supervisor, Adam Murray, the Gala Performance will be a showcase of songs which have been performed on the theatre’s stage over its 80 years and all excess proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Cancer Research UK. There will also be a raffle of amazing prizes in support of the Entertainment Artiste’s Benevolent Fund on the evening itself.

As well as the stars of WICKED (past and present including Lee Mead and Oliver Thompsett) the Gala Performance will feature Sharon D Clarke (original Killer Queen in WE WILL ROCK YOU), members of the original casts of SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, BOMBAY DREAMS and MOVIN’ OUT, the JERSEY BOYS, Patina Miller (SISTER ACT) and a very special one-off reunion of performers from the Apollo Victoria’s longest-running show STARLIGHT EXPRESS, with many more to be announced and special guests.

The Gala Performance will be the finale to a day of celebrations which will see the venue, noted for its architectural significance, opened to the public for talks, tours and a specially curated display telling the building’s varied and fascinating story.

Tickets for the Gala Performance will be on sale from Friday 13th August 2010 from the theatre box office, and Ticketmaster online and by phone on 0844 847 2288. Ticket prices from £15 to £60 all profits from ticket sales will be donated to Cancer Research UK.
