EVENT – Wicked Day 2011

WICKED has recently announced its sixth annual WICKED Day, a free afternoon of family fun that celebrates the award-winning production to raise funds for environmental causes in and around the local community.
This year’s WICKED Day event will take place between 12noon and 4pm on Sunday 30th October at the London Film Museum, County Hall  on the South Bank.  For the second year, proceeds raised will be donated to The Woodland Trust’s Heartwood Forest Appeal, planting England’slargest new continuous native forest near St Albans. With past venues inclusing Seven Dials and Cardinal Place, it will be great to see this event in a brand new location at the historic County Hall.
Inspired by the magical school within the show itself, WICKED Day will this year feature a host of WICKED and Halloween-themed events based around Shiz University Class of 2011.  Throughout the day families can expect activities for people of all ages including:a Storytelling Classroom in association with the production’s WICKED Young Writers’ Award, interactive SHIZ Playground area, Monkey Workshops, Face Painting, SHIZ Karaoke, and Galinda-fying Parlours, plus roaming magicians, cast performances and much more!
Michael McCabe, Executive Producer of WICKED, said: “We are very proud to continue our tree-planting partnership with The Woodland Trust, and using the production’s ‘green’ theme to engage, encourage and enable young people to interact with the natural environment both on their doorsteps and outside of London at Heartwood Forest. WICKED is a show founded upon the notion of taking responsibility for your own actions, and the simple act of planting trees is the perfect way to communicate this message in all that it has come to symbolize in today’s society.
So remember, entrance to WICKED Day is completely free! It’s a great day out for all the family so make sure you get yourself down there!
