REVIEW – Journey To The Past at the Greenwich Theatre

We popped in the other night to take in Helena Blackman’s “Journey To The Past” at the Greenwich Theatre. Helena has been touring this show over the last few months, so we were very excited to see the show in action – especially as massive Disney fans!

The evening did not disappoint! Helena was entertaining between songs and her vocals were perfection throughout. She sang some of my favourite Disney songs, right from Colours of the Wind (Pocahontas) through to He’s a Tramp (Lady and the Tramp). Helena was joined by two other performers – Ben Vivien Jones – who did a beautiful version of “Go The Distance” (Hercules) and later dueted with Helena on “A Whole New World”(Aladdin) – and Michelle La Fortune, who sang “Reflections” (Mulan) and dueted with Helena on “Somewhere Out There” (An American Tale). Michelle sang the Christina Aguilera version of Reflections perfectly and with power, but I would have loved to have also heard Helena sing the Lea Salonga version of the same song – maybe next time?

All in all a fantastic night at the theatre and a must for all Disney fans out there. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m hoping for an album?

Here’s my interview with Helena about the show.
